We will definitely take your wishes into consideration, but please keep in mind that we need to prioritize, and must staff certain areas before others. Also, remember that it is possible to change areas. 1. Info-Point: support service for artists and participants: As a member of the Info-Point staff, you are the first person artists and participants will turn to for help and information. Your work, done in close interaction with the festival organization team, will include coordinating other volunteers, selling tickets, helping artists sell their products, making photocopies for them and helping them find a rehearsal room (or even the nearest good coffee place!). In a word: the Info-Point is one of the festival’s most important nodal points. Here you are in the thick of the action, and will get to know many interesting people. 2. Publicity, social media, photographyYou will help us publicize what goes on at YSW, both in Weimar itself and for the world at large, by distributing flyers and posters, helping out with our blog, taking pictures, tweeting, posting, etc. In addition to interacting with many interesting people (and learning all about the essence of YSW in the process), working in this area will allow you to develop your social media and PR skills hands on. 3. Admin, ShopHere, you will us help out behind the scenes assisting our operations and finance department. Do you have the skills (and the patience) to update charts? Are you good at ordering papers and documents? In this area you will help us out in a variety of ways, from tasks involving a high level of responsibility to simpler ones like copying receipts, all the while gaining insight into what is probably the most important domain of any big event. 4. Catering, bar, foodOur artists and instructors have an intense schedule, with workshops and concerts throughout the day. In order to allow them to do their best, we try to give them some breathing space in the form of a relaxed midday meal.We have a lunchtime catering service for all workshop instructors (and for some, also dinner). You will help out preparing vegetarian dishes, and learn new alternative ways to serve large groups. As barperson/chef during concerts and at our “other music academy,” you will be in the thick of the action, meeting new people at exciting events. Of course, the festival team also needs to stay strong; with your help, everyone will be well-fed and happy! 5. Technical supportFor many years now, we have worked together with light and sound technicians who understand our tastes and needs, to ensure that our artists are properly seen and heard. Have you always wanted to know how to set up a PA system, which microphone to use when and where, and to master the ins and outs of stage lighting? If yes, then this is the place for you. Besides exciting concerts, this work area offers a great opportunity to learn about technology and, should the need arise, the chance to work your very own magic at the light board! Note: working hours in this area usually go from afternoon to late evening (more than 5 hours!!!) You should also be prepared to lift heavy objects. 6. Event managementThe guests in the audience are having a good time, but behind the scenes, there is work to do: arranging the stage, setting up chairs, readying the backstage for the artists (and cleaning up after them!), selling and checking tickets, conducting surveys, selling other music e.V. products, and making sure the event runs smoothly. As a member of the "backstage crew," you can look forward to doing this and much more. 7. TransportationAgain and again, people and things have to get from point A to point B. Technical equipment needs to be moved from one venue to the next; an artist needs to get back to their hotel after the concert, another might need a lift to or from the airport in Berlin or Frankfurt. - Are you an experienced driver with a valid driver’s license? - Have you had a license for at least 3 years? - Do you drive safely; feel OK driving a minibus, and feel you could handle making shuttle trips? If so, you’re in the right place! Accommodation I reserve a place in the communal accommodation.
