Our first major exchange project with Israel begins even before the official start of Yiddish Summer Weimar: at the end of June, young singers from YSW and Weimar’s Schola Cantorum will team up with the Voices of Peace choir of the Arab-Jewish Community Center in Jaffa-Tel Aviv to rehearse a unique new project, Alan Bern's original settings of children’s poems by the Yiddish poetess Kadya Molodowsky. This OMAcafé event will offer you the opportunity to meet the members of the KADYA Youth Choir, and to learn about their previous travels and activities.
During the event, the choir will present short excerpts from its repertoire, and several choir members will share their personal stories and experiences.
